Ch.21 Is this the end?

But, the blood in her veins went cold when she saw Damion carrying Rook. He was covered in blood and littered with cuts and abrasions. When he raised his head, she saw the twin black eyes and blood coming from his nose and mouth. 

She quickly tried to reach him through the thick snow. “Damion?!” she screams his name at the top of her lungs when he begins to fall. Tears ran down her face as she sprinted and tripped through the snow in a desperate attempt to reach them.

The demon had at last made it up the hill. Only then, did he relinquish his hold on his heavy scythe at the gate while walking up the path to his mansion. ‘So close, yet, so far away,’ he thought as his legs continue to take him to his goal. Rook had hardly stirred in his hold. He was too quiet and still, making Damion's stomach drop as he continued forward. Muffled sounds of barks entered his hearing. He realized it was Ruby as she circled them, then, walked alongside him. Sweat broke out on his skin as his vision began to swim. 

He heard another voice and instantly recognized the warm sound. ‘Sophie.’ His steps faltered as he desperately looked up to try and see her, but only saw a blurry vision of blues and gold’s. He tried to reach out to her. “Sophie,” he rasped before his vision completely blackened and he began to fall to the ground. 

All he could feel was the bone chilling cold that seeped through his flesh as if the Dark Lord himself had a grip on his soul and was dragging him down to the underworld. 

His dark world was nothing more than muffled noises, touches, and scents as something turned him to his back and shifted his head to lay on something soft that held the strong scent of lilacs and vanilla. Something hot and wet fell upon his cold, bloody face as watery sounds echoed in his head. He tried to open his heavy eyes, but was too tired and weak to even speak and only fell further into unconsciousness. 

‘Is this the end?’
