Deviation Actions
Description
The young demon inhaled deeply and stood, ready, in front of the target. The knife in his hand began to float as his eyes focused on the target. ‘Focus… focus… fo-’
“Eeeeeep!”
Rook lost his focus and the knife missed the target and instead imbedded itself into the wall. They had nearly jumped out of their skins when they heard Sophie’s scream and something smashing in the kitchen. Both demons were out of the room in smoky streaks as they wasted no time to reach the kitchen, hearing more ‘eeps!’ Damion nearly broke the door frame, “What’s wrong?!”
He expected to see Sophie injured and frightened. What he wasn’t expecting to see, was her running around with a broom, trying to squish a scurrying eyeball. It made pathetic noises as it tried to dodge the broom and the rays of sunlight coming from the kitchen window. This would have been hilarious to Damion if Sophie hadn’t scared the living shit out of him first, but that didn’t stop Rook from laughing his ass off.
When the vile little creature turned and scurried towards her, Sophie looked to Damion. “Save me!” she squeaked as she leaped at him and clung to him, for dear life, with her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist.
Damion had to suppress a groan, feeling her body pressed against his. He quickly got control of himself. Holding her up with his hand just beneath her bum, he had to resist squeezing the soft flesh.
Damion lifted his free hand to summon an empty glass jar to the floor, the creature accidently ran inside, becoming trapped as the lid appeared, closing its exit shut. Damion levitated the jar into his hand.
It, obviously, wasn’t happy as it tried to break free and if Damion could understand ‘eyeball,’ he’d think the little creature was cussing at them.
Rook took a closer look at it, “What the hell is that thing?”
‘A tracker,’ Damion mused to himself. It was actually a hoard of eyeballs that could separate from each other and stalk easy souls to devour. One alone wasn’t dangerous, but what one eyeball could see, the rest of the nest of eyeballs could also. This was the first time a Soul Eater dared enter his home, and he needed to remind them of who they were dealing with. ‘It seems this one was keeping an eye on things. A foolish mistake on its part.’
His eyes began to glow and focused on the creature. It started to squirm and writher in pain as if it were on fire, its veiny body beginning to bubble and blister. Suddenly, a small explosion erupted inside the jar and the creature turned to ash. A single small soul appeared in its place.
“A nuisance that we no longer need to worry about.” he handed the soul to Rook, “Take care of that.” Rook did as he was told while Damion reluctantly put Sophie back on her feet. He chuckled when she still kept a fierce grip on the broom. “Remind me not to make you angry when there’s a broom in your hand,” he teased as he gently pried her fingers from the wood.
Sophie released a shaken sigh as she allowed Damion to take the broom from her grip. Her heart was still beating a mile a minute as she tried to stand straight. ‘If I never see a little evil creepy-crawly again, it will be too soon.’ Damion noticed that she still looked pale in the cheeks and weak in the knees. “Are you alright?” he asked softly as he tried to soothe her anxiety away.
“I’ll be fine. Just need to sit for a bit.” She forced a small smile as she walked to the kitchen table to sit down in a chair before her legs gave out. Damion was soon right at her side, “Don’t worry. There isn’t any more of them crawling around.” ‘And I’ll be finding a spell to prevent anymore unwanted guests from entering our home.’
